We have pioneered the experiential based approach to implement accessibility throughout the UX design process for immersive experiences. The traditional compliance and WCAG-guidelines-driven approach falls apart when Designing Accessible Augmented and Virtual Reality Systems. Online shopping and immersive experiences can be made accessible by pro=actively applying systems and design thinking and taking an experiential approach when performing accessibility user testing.
Finally, five tips will be shared to make the immersive experience accessible to people with disabilities, without compromising design/development speed and quality. In fact, the experience for all users improves dramatically by making your AR/VR system accessible to all. Additionally, by having alternative and multiple modes of interaction, the user feels minimized undesired effects such as disorientation, nausea etc.
